Sharda sinha had made her own identity in Bihar as well as in the whole of India with her folk singing and cultural music. You will hear her folk songs from every corner of Bihar during the days of Chhath festival. Every man, woman and child of Bihar knows her songs very well.
She was born on 1 October 1952 in Hulas village of Supaul district of Bihar. Her musical career started from Magadh Mahila College. She received complete education in music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti and Lalit Narayan Mithila University. She also did PhD in music.

After this, she started her career in music fully in the 1980s. When she started singing, her folk songs and her unique style of singing were liked a lot in the whole of Bihar. She started singing songs in many languages like Maithili, Bhojpuri, Magahi and Hindi which people started liking a lot.
Among all the awards she won, people started liking the music of Chhath Mahaparva the most and gradually she got a unique identity in the whole of Bihar and due to this she also came to be known as "Bihar Kokila"
Sharda sinha even sang for Bollywood in the 80s, one of her famous songs is "Kahe Tose Sajna" which was sung in the film "Maine Pyar Kiya"
Now after doing all this, the Government of India gave her many awards, one of which is the Padma Shri award, the fourth most senior citizen of India, which was given to her in 1991.
And in 2018 also he was given the Padma Bhushan award as the third most respected citizen of India, not only this, he has also been awarded the Sangeet Natak Academy Award

The sad thing is that Sharda sinha is no longer among us, he passed away last night. After her death, the Prime Minister as well as the Home Minister expressed grief and also said that "Sharda sinha is a famous folk singer whose death has deeply saddened us. Her Maithili and Bhojpuri folk songs have been very popular for the last several decades. The echo of her melodious songs related to the great festival of faith Chhath will always remain. On the night of October 25, she was admitted to AIIMS Hospital in Delhi. She was being treated in the on-college department. Meanwhile, many big personalities reached the hospital to inquire about her health. She passed away at the age of 72. We all wish that God gives peace to her soul.
